POLITICS AND DR. RICHARD SHARP

DR. RICHARD SHARP (MOSES' SON) WAS ELECTED TO THE LEGISLATURE OF KENTUCKY FROM BATH COUNTY, IN AUGUST 1825. HIS PLATFORM BEING THE DIVISION OF THE COUNTY WITH THE NEW COUNTY SEAT TO BE SHARPSBURG, AND THE COUNTY TO BE CALLED RICHLAND COUNTY. HIS DEATH FOLLOWING HIS ELECTION WAS VERY MYSTERIOUS, AND THE SAYING IS THAT HE WAS POISONED BY BEING GIVEN A DRINK OF LEMONADE BY SOMEONE WHO WAS OPPOSED TO THE FORMATION OF THE NEW COUNTY. DR. RICHARD SHARP WAS MOSES' FOURTH CHILD AND SECOND SON.
