Obit 1 Joplin News Herald, Dec. 21, 1942 Cornelia Ann Merrell Mrs. Cornelia Ann Merrell, 82 years old, died at 9:15 o'clock yesterday morning in Freeman hospital, where she had been a patient six weeks. She was born in Mount Vernon and had been a resident of Joplin for 58 years. She was a member of the Methodist church, and her home was in Oakland. Suviving are three daughters, Mrs. R.M. Evans, 2020 Porter Avenue; Mrs. Lee Kinney of Neosho and Mrs. W.R. McConnell of Baxter Springs; one son, George T. Merrell, Rankge Line and Zora avenue; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Funeral services are under the direction of the Hurlbut Undertaking Company. The Rev. George Kelley of Neosho will officiate. Burial will be in the churchyard. The body will lie in state at the Hurlbut chapel until 1:45 o'clock tomorrow afternoon, when the funeral cortege will leave for the church.
