Shelbina Democrat, 18 Oct 1897 At her home in Carterville, MO., Oct 6, 1897, Mrs. Polly Merrell aged about 85 years of hemorrhage of the bowels. Mrs. Merrell is sister of Mrs. B.W. Carroll, of this city, also of Mrs. E.A. Barton, west of town, and Mrs. Rebecca Barr of Clarence. She was well known here having lived here some thirty years ago. Her maiden name was McBroom. After marrying she and her family moved to Newton County, Mo., and has lived there ever since until the time of her death.
