Biography of Wiley Burgess Davis
b. 14 May 1833   d. 17 Mar 1918


Wiley Burgess Davis was born 14 May 1833 in Bradley Co. TN, the  son of  Thomas J. Davis born 1792 in NC and Elizabeth Glenn born 1799 in SC. Thomas and Elizabeth  Were married 17 January 1826 in Lincoln Co. NC.  Thomas moved from NC to TN and was in Newton Co., MO, Grangeville Community by 1850.

 Wiley B. married Elizabeth Estes , b. 8 Nov. 1839. d. 7 Sept. 1882. Elizabeth was the daughter of Thomas  Doyle  Estes and Rhoda Farmer.
Children born to this union were Sarah Jane 13 March 1859, married John Thomas Haley 28 Dec. 1884,  Thomas E. b. 1860, married Charlotte
M. Vineyard  2 Mar 1884, Francis Marion @1866, William Robert @1870, married  Nancy Warren  16 June 1892, Rhoda Paralee b. 4 May 1872,
married James Lee Stroud 13 Nov. 1887, Ida Bell b. April 1876, married James William Innis 16 June 1892, Alfred  Wiley 1879, married Fanny Barrett.

After the death of  Elizabeth, Wiley married  Mollie Turner 3 Feb. 1887. Two children were born, a son Ralph Pawnee Davis 9 Apr 1889 and a
daughter Bertha B. Davis b. 4 May 1893.

 Wiley B. served with volunteers in the Civil War as a Pvt. In Co. E. 6th MO.  Cavalry. He enrolled on the 28th day of February 1862  to serve
three years  and was discharged 2 March 1865 at Baton Rouge, LA. Wiley was described on his discharge as  being six foot two, with black
hair, blue eyes and dark skin.  Wiley B. spent the remainder of his life on his farm in Grangeville.

 Wiley passed away  at his home in Fairview, Mo., age 85  years, eleven months and two days.  Wiley was said to die of old age.
Burial was in the Dice Cemetery, Fairview, Newton County, Missouri.
