My great great grandmother Nancy P. Hamilton was born in 1836 in TN and moved to Newton County, MO with her parents and siblings about 18553/4. Her father was James Hamilton and mother was Ona Price. They lived in the Shoal Creek area of Newton County.
This picture was taken about 1855 before she married John Davis Ferguson of Capps Creek, Barry Co., MO

Newton News, Newtonia Mo Thursday, January 4, 1900
Obituary for George Woodcock
Died Monday,January 1,1900,Mr. Woodcock,of pneumonia fever,age 45 years. His remains were taken to the Missionary Baptist Church,Tuesday,of which he was a member,and his funeral was preached by Rev. Mosier. He leaves a heartbroken wife and five fatherless children;three daughters and two sons and three brothers.He was conscious till the last and told them all goodby and to meet him in heaven.He was laid to rest in the AOUW Cemetery by the side of his little girl who died recently.The bereaved have the deepest sympathy of the entire community in this their saddest trail.
